As the world unites to observe World Refugee Day in June, we are happy to announce New Neighbor’s very own World Refugee Day Celebration in Jamestown’s Winter Garden on Saturday, June 22nd from 11am- 2pm. This event will serve as a platform for dialogue, cultural celebration, and community engagement. This is a perfect opportunity to learn more about different customs and traditions, enjoy artistic expressions from around the world, and try some snacks! The celebration will feature information tables from community organizations, Jamestown Community College’s Global Studies Department, an international reading challenge, ethically- sourced goods handmade in India available for purchase, opportunities to sample some bites from other countries, a Henna artist, performance and teach back by Sukanya Burman Dance, and more! This event will be hosted with support from the Jamestown Public Market and the YWCA. For more information or to sign up to be a volunteer, contact New Neighbors Manager, Momina Di Blasio at momina@stlukesjamestown.org or St. Luke’s Parish Administrator at (716) 483-6405.
