Rogation Days are the Earth Days of the Church. The name comes from the Latin word, rogare which means “to ask.” Traditionally they were a time of prayer and supplication, asking God to spare the growing season from inclement weather or other natural calamities. Currently, we use these days to celebrate the new birth of Spring, the beginning of the growing season and to ask for God’s blessings on crops. Rogation Days remind us of how we are bound to our growing season and the way the agriculture unites all of us.
If you’re unable to participate, St. Luke’s also welcomes donations to help cover the cost of plants. Simply include “Rogation Day” in the check memo line
