On August 25th, St. Luke’s will observe our annual Recovery Sunday service, when we commemorate National Overdose Awareness Day, remembering those who died from overdoses in the last year. This year, we will also celebrate the fact that overdose deaths are down in Chautauqua County this year — in part due to the availability of Narcan in the community, which saves lives by reversing the effects of an overdose. Recovery Sunday is also a day in which St. Luke’s recognizes and celebrates the journey of people who are in recovery from patterns of chaotic drug use in their lives.
Following the 10 am service on August 25th, St. Luke’s is organizing a prayer walk to pray for Spring Street where overdoses 30% of the County’s fatal overdoses have occurred.
