Rachel’s Tears: Liturgy for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

In St. Luke’s chapel at 5 pm on October 14th (the eve of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day), the church is offering a Service of Remembrance for all those who have experienced the many kinds of grief and loss that may be associated with pregnancy. The experience of this kind of loss is deeply personal. People with all kinds of grief associated with the loss of a pregnancy or infant are welcome. Sometimes, when it comes to reproductive health, it can seem like your grief doesn’t “count,” or they carry shame or blame that their loss is “their fault.” Here at St. Luke’s, there is no litmus test or judgment: If you are carrying with you the burden of a lost (or ended) pregnancy, come set that burden down in community – and in the hands of the One who has made and loves us all.
