The Chautauqua Chapter of the American Guild of Organists’ Organ Plus Concert at St. Luke’s on Sunday, April 6th at 4:00pm will be a memorial to the late Ron McEntire, Organist and Minister of Music for nearly 10 years at St. Luke’s until his death in 2023. As Ron was an avid performer of Cesar Franck’s works, the concert will feature one of Franck’s organ chorales performed from the archives of Ron’s recordings which are stored in memory of Ron on the Aeolian-Skinner Organ at the church. Local student organist performers include Julia Pound, Greta Roushey, and SUNY Fredonia students Aaron and Boaz Mecham, Trevor Napoli, and St. Luke’s very own Maddie DeJoy! Owen Reyda, who grew up locally and is now an organ major at Oberlin Conservatory, is also making the trip to perform. Local AGO member organists scheduled to perform include Brian Bogey, Gail Espinoza, Don Fellows, Andy Schmidt (with Danica Olson singing) and Donna Gatz.
A free will offering at the concert will benefit the Young Organist Scholarship Fund of the Chautauqua Chapter, which awards scholarships to students continuing in organ studies plus sponsorships to pipe organ encounters. It also supplies organ shoes and music to students. A reception will follow the conclusion of the concert.
