Pre-Registration is required\, as there are limited materials and space. Please register here. SUMMARY:Recovery Sunday
DESCRIPTION:On August 25th\, St. Luke’s will observe our annual Recovery Sunday service\, when we commemorate National Overdose Awareness Day\, remembering those who died from overdoses in the last year. This year\, we will also celebrate the fact that overdose deaths are down in Chautauqua County this year — in part due to the availability of Narcan in the community\, which saves lives by reversing the effects of an overdose. Recovery Sunday is also a day in which St. Luke’s recognizes and celebrates the journey of people who are in recovery from patterns of chaotic drug use in their lives. \nFollowing the 10 am service on August 25th\, St. Luke’s is organizing a prayer walk to pray for Spring Street where overdoses 30% of the County’s fatal overdoses have occurred.

SUMMARY:Trauma Informed Care Training Session 2
DESCRIPTION:In July\, the New Neighbors Coalition hosted Danielle Bernas\, the Director of Refugee & Immigrant Center for Healing at Jewish Family Services in Buffalo for the first of a 3-part training series on trauma-informed care that focuses on newly-arrived immigrants. Due to the generosity of Jewish Family Services\, the Coaltion was able to provide this opportunity to volunteers and community members free of cost. \nDanielle spoke on the importance of culturally responsive care when working with new neighbors\, as well as some additional context regarding the immigrant experience. She highlighted the importance of setting boundaries as volunteers and addressing our self-care needs\, while still engaging with new neighbors in a way that is empathetic and compassionate. \nIf you missed the training or just want a refresher\, the video is linked here and Danielle’s PowerPoint is here (Culturally Responsive Practice for Refugee Mental Health Services.) Danielle also provided us with some useful information regarding social integration\, which can be found here. \nThe second training session is scheduled for Wednesday\, August 28th from 5-6:30pm in the St. Luke’s Undercroft at 410 N. Main St\, Jamestown\, NY. Registration for the event is found here.
