SUMMARY:Pride Sunday & Jamestown Pride
DESCRIPTION:Join St. Luke’s over Pride weekend in community celebration and worship over the weekend of June 7th & 8th. On Sunday\, June 8th at the 10am service\, St. Luke’s will celebrate our fifth annual Pride Sunday service. This year\, Pride coincides with the Church’s celebration of Pentecost. This is a fitting alignment\, as Pentecost is the day when the Church commemorates the Holy Spirit’s outpouring on all believers: young and old\, men and women\, Jews and Gentiles\, and people gathered in Jerusalem from a vast variety of nations. Following the lead of the Spirit\, St. Luke’s works to see and nurture the gifts of all people\, regardless of sexual orientation\, gender identity\, or walk of life. Gavin Card\, who was one of St. Luke’s youth ten years ago and is now beginning the discernment process for ordination\, will be the day’s guest preacher\, and will reflect on the ways the church has been a source of safety\, strength\, and support in his spiritual and life’s journey as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. For the occasion\, St. Luke’s children and youth\, as well as faithful adult volunteers\, have assisted in making special rainbow dove decorations for the church. \nFor parishioners who would like to celebrate Pride through community celebration and acts of service: Jamestown Pride is seeking volunteers for the week’s events. Sign up at https://tinyurl.com/JamestownPride2025Volunteer. \nAs in previous years\, St. Luke’s will be staffing a children’s activity table at the Jamestown Pride Festival Event on Saturday\, June 7th\, from 9 am to 1 pm. Traditionally\, St. Luke’s youth have staffed this table – but this year we are opening the opportunity up to adult volunteers\, as well. Interested volunteers can contact vestry member Tiffany MacCallum (tmaccallum626@gmail.com) or clergy (Luke or Jessica) to sign up to volunteer and learn more. \nSince the first Jamestown Pride festival event in 2021\, St. Luke’s has been a committed community supporter of Jamestown Pride. Jessica\, through her work supporting local LGBTQ+ youth\, has been Jamestown Pride’s Coordinator for the past two years. This has given her invaluable experience in practicing community outreach and leadership\, as well as nonprofit administration: Thanks to the in-kind and administrative support of St. Luke’s\, Jamestown Pride has become an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit\, with the vision to create more events year-round and a network of community support.

SUMMARY:Youth Sunday
DESCRIPTION:It is a solemn tradition at St. Luke’s to let our young people take over the 10 am service for a special Youth Sunday worship planned and lead by the gifted youth of St. Luke’s. On April 27th at 10 am\, St. Luke’s will celebrate Youth Sunday. Planning this worship experience is a highlight in the programmatic year for the young people of St. Luke’s\, and this spring is no exception. On Youth Sunday\, the mood tends to be more playful\, and the music a bit more secular and rambunctious. McKenzie Pickett\, one of St. Luke’s high school seniors will be the morning’s guest preacher.
